Re: Sky Simulator for ASCOM

Go to your imaging program (CCDCiel, APT, SGP...) to the device setting of the camera (simulator) and do the following: Select sky simulator as camera. Go to setting and select the same file as sky simulator (default documents\image.jpg). See red marked below: sky_simulator2.png Set also the image d...

Re: errors trying to install the RPM

That's strange. The version 0.309 is the current version. The version 3.12-2, I can't explain. Never created that version.

For making the RPM version, I use the program alien on the debian package.

For the moment I can't explain or do anything.

HNSKY 4.1.8 released

To all HNSKY users, HNSKY planetarium program version 4.1.8 has been released. There is one new feature: Asteroid data download has been upgraded. The link to a small asteroid file as previously provided by the Minor Planet Center is no longer available. Therefore the asteroid database is now update...

Re: solving fails in some specific sky areas, succeeds in others. repeatable

Hello Chris, The problem is clear. The declination is stored in the FITS header with a double minus sign. That's why (far) below dec=0 it will not solve. OBJCTDEC= '--36 40 19.6' / Nominal Declination of center of image OBJCTRA = '23 26 33.3' / Nominal Declination of center of image This double minu...

Re: solving fails in some specific sky areas, succeeds in others. repeatable

Hello Chris, You could upload them all to the site below and give me the link. No email required. https://uploadfiles.io Or share them with google drive. Maybe you star database is incomplete (290 files of *.290) but that will quickly become clear. For a colour cam normally binning 2x is the best op...

>>5) Is the FOV correct? If you solve an image in ASTAP, does the FOV in the statusbar change after solving. This change should be less then 5% for best >>performance. Will check this on next run if I can (but I dont see the full Astap window and I don't run Astap during these runs, I just see a ver...

Re: solving fails in some specific sky areas, succeeds in others. repeatable

Hello Chris, The is no difference for northern and southern hemisphere. F/2 and 560 mm is a fast system. Could you provide some images, so I can have a look. There some things to check: 1) Are the stars round? 2) Are the stars larger then one pixel? One pixel is ignored as hot pixel. 3) What is the ...

Re: Problems with RAW files on OS X

For the CR2 files the pattern is RG = RGGB. Yes they are pretty green which many people have. The white balance is not correct. You can fix that for the viewer by going to tab pixelmath 1, go to topic colour correction, press auto and press apply. During stacking the colours ares corrected automatic...

ASTAP version 0.9.306 contains bug in average stacking

Unfortunately in ASTAP version 0.9.306 a severe bug was introduced in average stacking. This resulted in unreadable FITS files. (One line of code line was deleted by mistake) If you have this version, download 0.9.307. Version 0.9.306 was available between 2019-12-16 and 2019-12-18. Solving and othe...
