Re: Batch extract fits header into a csv file

Hi Han, Sorry! I seem to be causing a lot of trouble  I've seen your post to Ivo and it looks like he will change to one of the values you suggested. :) Please don't change your program on a temporary basis on my account. I'm in no rush. So happy to wait until APT changes. Thanks again for you...

Re: Batch extract fits header into a csv file

Hi Han, I saw Focus Temp (foctemp) in the list, but assumed this was the temperature of the focusing device and not necessarily the ambient temp of the surrounding air. I also assumed that the scope, and specifically the focus tube, would be similar, if not equivalent to the ambient temp. Anyway, I ...

Re: Batch extract fits header into a csv file

Hi Han, Thanks, I hadn't realised you could do that. :) A Select All, Copy and Paste into Excel works perfectly. Could you add the ambient temp (TAMBIENT) to the list? Actually, what I was looking to do was sum the ambient temp for a night's session and relate that to the focuser position. I have as...

Batch extract fits header into a csv file

Hi Han,

Would it be worth and, more importantly, would you be prepared to add an option to your Tools set to batch extract the fits header of selected files into a csv file? Each column would be a FITS Header definition.

The csv would help do various analysis tasks using Excel.

Cheers, Jim

Re: Minor short cut key sequence conflict? Plus other bits...

Thanks, Han, Just to be certain I didn't mislead you. It was the file "astap_setup.exe" that I was wondering if you could rename to "astap_setup_v0.9.274.exe", for example and not the executable "astap.exe" itself. :) Personally I'm not worried about the number of versions. It shows a a continuous s...

Minor short cut key sequence conflict? Plus other bits...

Hi Han, I've just been playing with ASTAP's Tools. They are amazing! :D It may take me a while to get to grips with the value of them all, but until then they provide some interesting options! I just noticed what looks like a minor short cut key sequence conflict. "Ctrl-L" is set to both "Rotate ima...

Re: Platesolve works then doesn't?

Hi Han,

Another trick up your sleeve! How do you simulate a Goto++?? Surely it needs to be able to take live images? :?

If I could simulate a GoTo++, perhaps there is a way to simulate an Auto Meridian Flip, which would be so, so useful!

Re: Platesolve works then doesn't?

Ah! Looks like the conversation has switched to here: http://aptforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2816

So no need to answer my question above.#

Re: Platesolve works then doesn't?

P.S. why should it matter if ASTAP uses the coords in the .fits header or uses the ones that Point Craft provides? Surely, ASTAP will solve either anyway? I have been quite happily using ASTAP to solve images, by populating the "APT > Point Craft > Approx. RA" and "Dec" values by randomly selecting ...

Re: Platesolve works then doesn't?

Hi Han, When you take an "ordinary" light image then Solve it, since APT v3.75.4, it does indeed create an ImageToSolve.jpg or ImageToSolve.fit file (or maybe both, I'm not sure). However, when doing a GoTo++ (which is what it does as part of the Auto Meridian Flip) it doesn't create an "ImageToSolv...
