Hi Han

thank you very much for the fast response and fixing the bug.
Software development is not easy and I am glad I could support.

Wish you a nice Sunday an Clear Skies!

Fixed in 0.9.317. This bug was already some time there but it is fixed now. If you stack your 5 seconds images you will see more stars.

Note that after a restart ASTAP will select the internal stack routine. You have to select "use astrometry.net" after each restart.

It's a bug. I will fix it this afternoon.

I have received the files. Somehow I wasn't warned by email but will have a look today.

Han
did you receive my PM with the link to the wcs files?
It is weird that it is still in the outbox. Shouldn't it be in the sent box?

Hi Han
it was just a test with my new ASI178MC camera. I used a C9.25 with 2350mm focal length as I don't have a recucer yet.
I knew it will be oversampled and would have a small field of view with a few stars only.
But my local astrometry.net could solve it. So i will provide the wcs files too.
But after solving when the stacking starts ASTAP quits with this numerical error after the first file processed.

CS nad a nice day
Tom

Hello Tom,

I have the images. There are maybe 6 stars visible making at very difficult. The internal solver needs about 30 stars to work. My astrometry.net installation can't solve it but that's because the FOV is very small. The webpage nova.astrometry.net finds this for one image:

http://nova.astrometry.net/user_images/ ... #annotated
Center (RA, Dec): (323.033, 48.413)
Center (RA, hms): 21h 32m 07.958s
Center (Dec, dms): +48° 24' 45.407"
Size: 11.4 x 7.68 arcmin
Radius: 0.115 deg
Pixel scale: 0.222 arcsec/pixel

For the small 0.115 deg FOV, I haven't download the index files, probably a gigabyte or so. Can you send me the .wcs files your astrometry.net has created after finding the solution. That makes it easier

The pixel scale is also very small. 0.222 arcsec/pixel so highly over-sampled. The typical seeing at most locations is 3 or 4 arc seconds. The 0.222 arcsec/pixel is way low or in other words the magnification is too high. It also explains why only a few stars are visible. A pixel scale of 1.5 arc seconds would be much better and more sensitive to fotons.

For these images to stack it is better to use manual alignment.

Any reason for this small field/high magnification?

No problem, I will wait for them.

Hi Han
I currently try to upload the pics on uploadfiles.io but it looks like it might take some time.
The upload started for the first file but then changed into a holding pattern ...
Will continue to try upload the files and as soon as it is successful I will send you the link.
Cheers and CS
Tom

Hello Tom,

I happens but rarely. Can you provide met the pictures or the first two or three or all for testing. Running the program in the debugger, I can quickly can find out why it goes wrong at fix it for next time.

The images are 5 seconds exposure. It should normally possible to stack them with the standard routine but maybe there not enough stars.

Could you put them on a google drive and send me the link privately? or upload to to something like https://uploadfiles.io/ and give me the link. No email required.

Clear skies, Han
